Country in the Country 20130630

It's Country in the Country for Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Just when you thought you were having a relaxing summer, Country Yossi invades The Catskills with another season of Country in the Country!
Since we're in The Three Weeks, we kicked things off with some a capella music: "Gam Ki Eilech" from The Chevra's Chevra Acapella CD.
Then Dov Shurin checked in with the latest news from Israel.
Next, the flood of information continued as Country was joined by New York City Council Candidates David Storobin and Joseph Hayon to hear about their campaign platforms.

One more bit of a capella music followed from Chevra Acapella: "Mimkomcha."
And Country was giving out Grand Prizes like they were going out of style.
It's almost enough to make you want to tune in again next week, so we'll see you then!

The Country Yossi Show 20130422

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, April 22, 2013.

Country Yossi didn't keep us waiting, starting the show by sharing his struggles with weight. Sefira continues and so did the a capella music from Kol Achai and A.K.A. Pella.

Thanks to a problem with his flight, Dov Shurin surprised us with a live in-studio visit!

As Heshy mentioned, Efrat Klein is a 25-year-old single Israeli citizen who is suffering from kidney failure and desperately needs a kidney transplant as soon as possible. She can only receive a kidney from a live donor and has been waiting for one for the past two years, separated from her family at home. Efrat's mother, Anat, who is here with her, missed her other daughter's wedding because she cannot leave Efrat's side. Efrat cannot survive long-term without a transplant and must be on dialysis every four hours.  If you have type B or type O blood, and meet certain other specific criteria, you will be a potential donor. Whether or not you are a possible donor, please help us spread the word about Efrat's situation.  For additional information, contact Renewal at: R453@renewal.org or (718) 431-9831, ext. 311 (patient reference #R453)

And even with all that going on, we still managed to squeeze in a few phone calls worth of shailes. If you haven't won a Grand Prize yet, we have a lovely consolation prize for you: the gift of two free Mondays as Yossi heads out of town for a couple of weeks. In the meantime, you can create your own home game of The Country Yossi Show by asking yourself shailes, or you can just sift through our radio show archive. See you May 13!

The Country Yossi Show 20130415

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, April 15, 2013.

Hi, remember us? We're The Country Yossi Show. Forgotten, but not gone. It's been a while, so let's take a moment to get reacquainted, shall we? There, that's better. As we return from a long hiatus (not long enough for some listeners), Yossi keeps Heshy in stitches with his thoughts on the latest news. Then, since we're in mid-Sefira, we're also knee-deep in a capella music, with a selection of songs from our friends Lev Tahor, A.K.A Pella, and The Chevra. In between all the music and fun, we also had to share a few sad moments with Dov Shurin. Stay tuned to find out why. Let's hope this program was the most taxing part of your Tax Day. We'll see you next week.

The Country Yossi Show 20130318

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, March 18, 2013.

It's Country Yossi's annual "Stump the Pesach Experts" Spectacular! Will they "rise" to the challenge? Country and Heshy once again welcome Rabbi Dovid Heber, editor of the annual STAR-K Passover Directory, and Ronnie & Larry Birnbaum of J Drugs to answer all of your Pesach shailes.

Speaking of things that are כשר לפסח, this podcast isn't one of them. After all, it's got BEAN right in the web address, and that means it's very likely kitniyos. So, while you're breaking matzo, we'll take a two-week break, too. A Zissen Pesach to you and yours, and we'll see you after Yontif.

The Country Yossi Show 20130311

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, March 11, 2013.

Before we tell you about tonight's show, let us first announce:

Country Yossi Pesach issue in the oven!

(We'd better remove it within 18 minutes before the levity becomes leavening!) Country Yossi's spectacular 25th anniversary, no-chometz, no Kitnius, non-gebrokts, no-refunds Pesach issue is poised to hit the street this Friday! Exclusive Cover story focuses on the incredible Chol Hamoed Kosher circus (male performers only) at the new convenient Barclays Center featuring the Yeshiva Boys Choir, Uncle Moishy and more wild animals than you can shake a Shmura Matzah at! An in-depth look at CY's quarter century of publishing history and an insightful retrospective by our very own Rabbi Moshe Meir Weiss tops out a stunner of an issue, not to mention the jam-packed early Spring Z Report! So grab a copy quick before they're gone with the Chometz !

Now, on to the show! After reflecting on the past 25 years of the magazine. Country and Heshy looked back at the money they had 25 years ago. Then we enjoyed a little Country Yossi music: "Shteeble People."
Yossi and his callers traded some Pesach-themed shailes for some grand prizes, Dov Shurin phoned in with the latest news from Israel, and we had our monthly visit from Yossi's father with Rosh Chodesh Bentsching. Join us next week when we turn the format upside down and let you ask the shailes -- specifically Pesach shailes as we welcome Rabbi Dovid Heber, editor of the annual STAR-K Passover Directory, and Larry Birnbaum of J Drugs who'll have all the answers. See you then!

The Country Yossi Show 20130304

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, March 4, 2013.

Since he neglected to mention February birthday boys George Washington and Abe Lincoln last month, Country Yossi noticed their portraits in his wallet (one of each) and decided to rant about Banking. Then we had a little Country Yossi Music: "Rav Shmuel and the Myrtle Twig."
With Purim behind us and Pesach ahead, how about some Pesach-themed shailes? And hoo boy, did they break all the rules tonight! The Pesach issue of Country Yossi Family Magazine arrives Friday, March 15th, and we'll see you the Monday before that (that's next Monday to you and me). Get it? Got it? Good!

The Country Yossi Show 20130225

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, February 25, 2013.

It's the Shushan Purim Spectacular! And where did Yossi get that horrendous, terrifying mask? Oh, wait, he's not wearing a mask. My bad. In the name of levity, Yossi shared his thoughts on Lawyers and Hotels. Then we endured enjoyed some Country Yossi Music: "Moishe Shmeel."
The usual weekly volley of shailes came next, with a special Grand Prize of tickets to The Big CHAZAQ Event.
Before we knew it we heard from a very relaxed Dov Shurin with the latest news from Israel. And then a few more shailes just for good measure.
Befire we go, Country Yossi adds this post script:
Dear friends, Next issue we are celebrating our 25th anniversary of Country Yossi Magazine! I am requesting all readers, music people and friends to please send me an email suitable for publication expressing your feelings about this milestone. Please send to country@countryyossi.com Thanking you in advance. May we all celebrate another quarter century together in good health and good cheer in Yerushalayim!
