The Country Yossi Show 20121126

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, November 26, 2012.

It's almost December and that means it's almost time for Heshy's birthday. And that means it's time for Country Yossi to crack wise about getting older. Next we enjoyed some Country Yossi music: "Elan Elan."
And one good song deserves another, so we also heard Kivi and Tuki's "Who is He?"
Dov Shurin checked in with the latest news from Israel, and Grand Prizes were flying out the door like generators after Hurricane Sandy! And speaking of Sandy, our thoughts go out to the residents of Far Rockaway who recently got their power back, meaning they're no longer immune from the weekly agony of The Country Yossi Show. By the way, the release of the Chanukah issue of Country Yossi Family Magazine is so close you can taste it. Come to think of it, that might be better than actually reading it! Join us next week, when we'll almost definitely be coming apart.

The Country Yossi Show 20121119

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, November 19, 2012.

It'Tonight, Heshy "The Wonder Child" Walfish shared some of his post-Sandy storm tsores. Then Country Yossi shared some musings on music and more miscellany. We took a break for a little Country Yossi music: "Elokai Neshama," performed by reknowned MBC soloist Simcha Koch, from Kivi and Tuki's Greatest Hits. Then we heard all about this Saturday night's Friends For ALS Benefit Concert Featuring 8th Day.
And Dov Shurin checked in with the latest news from Israel. Not to mention the crowning of some Grand Prize Winners! The final touches are being put on the Chanukah issue of Country Yossi Family Magazine. If you'd like to be a part of it, call 718 851-2010. See you next week!

The Country Yossi Show 20121112

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, November 12, 2012.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Heshy "The Wonder Child" Walsfish was rendered completely speechless. Not! Nothing could be further from the truth! In fact, Heshy was ranting like it was going out of style, touching on such hot topics as the Hurricane response, the election results and government in general. Sit back and listen to the sparks fly.
Eventually, Country Yossi was able to get a word in edgewise and proceeded to launch into an endurance test of doctor jokes. Can you survive the assault?
Looking for the perfect Chanukah gift? Country Yossi has the perfect suggestion: the new book from noted author Barcha Goetz, and master artist Yeshaya Suval:
Then it was time for a little Country Yossi music:"The Rabbi."
Then, before we had a chance to busy-out the phones, Dov Shurin called in with the latest news from Israel.
Up next: Rosh Chodesh Bentsching with Yossi's father, Chaim Toiv, who's currently resting comfortably in Maimonides Medical Center. Please keep him in your thoughts.
Finally, Heshy chimed in with his Chanukah gift suggestion: The new CD from Moshe Dovid Weissman:
We got to hear the first cut, the very catchy "Mikdash Melech."
Now, what's the only thing we have left to do....? Oh, right! Take your phone calls! Sorry, the show was so action packed, there was no time for such frivolity. Better luck next week, eh?

The Country Yossi Show 20121105

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, November 5, 2012.

After the Storm of the Century, it's a totally unplugged version of The Country Yossi Show as Country Yossi phoned it in even more than usual. And the gas shortage kept Heshy at home  listening from the sidelines. In tonight's special pre-Election Day episode, Yossi was joined by Senator David Storobin to discuss his re-election campaign. Country Yossi reminds you to Vote Early and Vote Often! We heard a little Country Yossi Music in the form of  "Mitzvah Dance."
And of course we had a generous dose of your phone calls, and a smattering of grand prize winners! Look out for the November issue of Country Yossi Family Magazine which incredibly hit the street as scheduled last Friday despite hurricane,  flooding, gas shortage, and black-outs! What will next week's show sound like? Who can tell? You'll have to tune in to find out!

The Country Yossi Show 20121022

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, October 22, 2012.

The Country Yossi Show winter season is well under way! Tonight's ordeal installment began with Country and Heshy talking debate, de baseball, and de other stuff. Then we enjoyed a little Country Yossi Music: "Oh Yankel."
But the music didn't stop there! Next we enjoyed the title cut from Benny Friedman's new CD:
Later, as if that wasn't enough, we sampled the title cut from Shloime Gertner's latest release:
And then Dov Shurin checked in with the latest news from Israel. His most recent release may have been from some sort of institution, but we're not supposed to talk about that. Finally, just when you thought Country Yossi had made enough of a mockery of radio shows, we wrapped things up with a little mock debate, courtesy of our very own Heshy "The Wonder Child" Walfish. Don't fail to miss our next exciting episode, one week from tonight!

The Country Yossi Show 20121015

It's The Country Yossi Show for Monday, October 15, 2012.

Just when you thought your new year was off to a wonderful start, The Country Yossi Show returns to remind you that into every life a little chrain must fall. We began tonight's festivities with a little City-style comedy — if you can call that comedy. Then a little Country Yossi Music: "I'm Proud to Be a Part of Am Yisroel."
Next, the shailes came fast and furious, and no one was spared. Was it a shut-out? You'll have to press play to find out. (Besides, I wrote this line before the show was over, so I don't even know yet!) Later, after checking the calendar, Country and Heshy remembered we're in the year תשעג (time flies like an arrow — and fruit fries like an orange!) so what better song to play then "In The Year."
But wait, there's more! Dov Shurin phoned in with the latest news from Israel. Another check of the calendar (and a gentle hint from a caller) reminded the boys that tonight was the night for Rosh Chodesh Bentsching with Yossi's father, Chaim Toiv The next Country Yossi Family Magazine comes out November 2nd, so start making room on the coffee table — or in the bird cage — now! See you next week!

Country in the Country 20120826

It's Country in the Country for Sunday, August 26, 2012.

Finally, our long regional nightmare is over. It's the final Country in the Country of the Summer!
Among the Country Yossi and the Shteeble-Hoppers music featured in the first hour, we heard "7 Seven Little Kids," "He's Coming Closer, " "Bashert," and "I'm Proud to Be a Part of Am Yisroel."

Then in the Hour 2, we went out with a bang with the latest news from Israel with Dov Shurin, the Beth Shifra Report and a full hour (well, what was left of it) of Divrei Torah and other learned thoughts, courtesy of Rabbi Moshe Meir Weiss. And with that, let's call it a season! We'll see you in The City in a month or so. Find us on the radio and right here on this podcast. [Podcaster's Note: The Podcast goes out with a whimper. Alert listeners may have noticed that this episode's audio quality was not up to our usual standards of mediocrity. Y'see, our two primary audio recorders failed miserably, as well as our primary backup, so we had to fallback on our secondary backup, which is a smartphone, but it might as well be a wire-recorder up-converted to a wax cylinder. As a result, there's a little distortion, a few skips,  dropouts and warbles, and the show is in mono. Apart from that, it's flawless! We apologize for any inconvenience.  --Mike]
